Founded in 1809, Miami University is a residential, public university located in Oxford, Ohio. Miami's tree-shaded lawns are bordered by gracious Georgian-Style buildings, inspiring poet Robert Frost to declare it "the most beautiful college there is. " A liberal education core curriculum complements the more specialized studies in over 100 academic majors and pre-professional programs. Distinctive opportunities exist for students who wish to participate in honors programs, study abroad, leadership opportunities, and undergraduate research. The personal education Miami provides has been compared to that at the best private schools and resulted in Miami being named one of the original "Public Ivy" universities. Miami has consistently been among the top 10 major public universities nationwide for its graduation rate. The Education Trust, a nonprofit group, cited Miami as a "model university" for its above average record in seeing that students succeed. The Wall Street Journal named Miami as one of the top feeder schools for 15 elite graduate programs in an article titled "Want to go to Harvard Law. ";
