Queens University of Charlotte is a student-centered, comprehensive, private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U. S. A. ) and located in historic Myers Park, a suburb just minutes from uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded in 1857 with a strong foundation in the liberal arts and commitment to excellence, the University serves the needs of its diverse coeducational student body with a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs and learning experiences through the College of Arts & Sciences, the Hayworth College, the McColl School of Business, and the Presbyterian School of Nursing. In all of its programs, Queens emphasizes active and collaborative learning, meaningful student-teacher relationships, a creative synthesis of the liberal arts with the world of work, and the value, indeed the necessity, of life-long learning. The creative synthesis is facilitated by an intimate learning environment and innovative curriculum which includes: The John Belk International Program, involving close to 90% of full-time undergraduates traveling abroad; a nationally recognized internship program which is fully integrated into the curriculum, leading to 100% participation; and lastly the Core program in the Liberal Arts which is designed to challenge students to develop analytical and critical thinking skills. This program has received accolades from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
