The University of Minnesota Duluth is a medium-sized, comprehensive university whose liberal arts foundation anchors a variety of traditional undergraduate and masters degree programs. As a university community in which knowledge is sought as well as taught, its faculty recognize the importance of scholarship and service, the intrinsic value of research, and the significance of a primary commitment to quality teaching. A focus on undergraduate research provides undergraduate students with one-on-one experiences with faculty who are active in research/creative activity. Community outreach centers include the Freshwater Research and Policy Institute, the Natural Resources Research Institute, and the Center for Economic Development.
