| Mission | |
| School mission | Willamette students don't just learn in an intellectually rigorous environment, they live in one. The interaction between our students and our award-winning faculty doesn't end in the classroom. It continues with a debate on the Quad and over coffee in the Bistro as students and faculty collaborate to probe the intellectual, ethical and social questions that emerge from both curricular and cocurricular experiences. Willamette students are continually challenged - by their faculty, their peers and themselves - to achieve excellence, whether in the classroom or in the laboratory, in the studio or on the stage, in the research field or on the athletic field, through studies abroad and involvement in the community. After challenging their intellect and building personal skills, our graduates go on to do great things. They receive scholarships to study at some of the top-ranked graduate schools in the world, including the London School of Economics, Harvard, MIT and Stanford. They share their knowledge through the Peace Corp and Teach For America. And they shape the world of business, technology, entertainment and politics working at Nike, Flir, Intel, Microsoft, Pixar, the Oregon Supreme Court, the U.S. Senate and the White House. They are entrepreneurs, artists, teachers, inventors and citizens. A Willamette education develops each student's potential to lead and influence positive change - locally, nationally, globally. Our academic framework of exploration and discourse focuses on new perspectives regarding issues and people, and develops each student's sense of personal civility, cultural understanding and respect, and a heightened commitment to social justice. |
