| Mission | |
| School mission | Preparing students for their lives as engaged global citizens and leaders is a key goal of Meredith College. Students typically choose this women's college of 2,200+ students because of its academic reputation, size and location. What they find are academic and co-curricular experiences that challenge them to excel and empower them to make a difference in the world. As a result, most entering freshmen become Meredith graduates, and alumnae report strong satisfaction with the Meredith experience. Meredith's academic program provides a strong liberal arts emphasis that includes a core curriculum focusing on cultural understanding and connections. Students choose from 50 majors and concentrations that prepare them for careers, professions and graduate study. Students expand their learning through study abroad, the Undergraduate Research Program, LeaderShape, and community involvement. Meredith's capital city location affords abundant opportunities for internships with such organizations as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, SAS Institute, and GlaxoSmithKline. The Meredith Technology Initiative provides each full-time student with her own laptop computer. |
