Mission  
School mission The primary mission of Albany State University is to educate students to become outstanding contributors to society. Central to the mission, the University embraces "Potential. Realized.", a philosophy that intends to encourage and inspire all members of its University community to discover, cultivate and develop their unique talents and gifts. Academic highlights include: fourth highest retention rate among 25 institutions of the system and now the second highest among state universities of the system; triple spring-to-spring enrollment; nursing graduates boast 100% exam pass rate; four undergraduate colleges within 14 departments; graduate school offering six programs; training in pre-law, pre-medicine, pre-dentistry and pre-pharmacy; special Military Science (Army ROTC) Program; national accreditation in public administration, nursing, business, education, forensic science, and social work with eight-year approval rating (highest that can be awarded); continuous quality improvement in student services most recently with addition of brand new apartment/suite style residence halls, first-ever university-run convenience store in southwest Georgia, faster access to refunds via HigherOne's Easy Refund Card, and further expansion of University's technology infrastructure just to name a few; recent academic venture with two local institutions are aimed to offer Nursing, Forensic Science and ROTC programs as part of an effort to help deepen the state's labor pool; excellent faculty grantsmanship funds to provide quality student training and promote student achievement.
