School mission and unique qualities (as provided by the school):

York University is the leading interdisciplinary teaching and research university in Canada. York offers a modern, academic experience in Toronto, one of the world's most multicultural cities, and is host to a dynamic community of more than 54,000 students, 7,000 faculty and staff and more than 250,000 alumni worldwide. York's 10 Faculties and 28 research centres conduct ambitious, groundbreaking research, cutting across traditional academic boundaries. This distinctive, interdisciplinary approach brings fresh insights and solutions to real-world challenges.
The University has two unique campuses: the Keele campus in Toronto's north end presents extensive facilities in a modern, self-contained environment. This high-energy, urban setting features five libraries, three theaters, seven art galleries, a shopping mall, and a student centre. Glendon, our bilingual, liberal arts campus located in mid-town Toronto, was created to foster future leaders with a personalized, international and interdisciplinary education. Glendon differs from all other Canadian universities by offering courses within the context of two languages and cultures, English and French. No other university in Ontario provides such an integrated experience with an international flair. York's campuses truly offer a vibrant community for top scholars seeking a multi-cultural, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
A selective university with strong admission standards, students may be required to present higher averages with specific preparation in certain subject areas for limited enrolment programs. The GCE Advanced Level courses, AP® courses, and the International Baccalaureate are recognized for admission and transfer credit. Students studying in the AP® curriculum may receive a maximum of one year of University credit towards their York degree. York University is accredited by The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
York's residential spaces are comprised of furnished single rooms, double rooms or suites. The extracurricular community offers more than 300 student clubs, two radio stations, 13 student newspapers, student governments, and a variety of sports teams. Athletic facilities include the Rexall Tennis Center; Toronto Indoor Track & Field Center; six ice skating rinks; swimming pools, squash courts, weight rooms, and a stadium. Public transit makes York easily accessible to Greater Toronto Area neighbourhoods and the Lester B. Pearson Airport. This dynamic community combines academic and extracurricular activities in an experience that beckons to international students all over the world. Consider your future at York University.
