Named after the Wright brothers, Wright State has built a national reputation as an urban research university steeped in a culture of innovation. Wright State is designated by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a research university with high research activity and ranks fourth among Ohio's public universities in federal research expenditures. Wright State is also a national leader in serving students with disabilities. Its strong links to business and community organizations offer unique educational opportunities to a diverse student body of nearly 20,000. Boasting two campuses, the university offers 110 undergraduate and 76 Ph.D., master's and professional degrees spread over 10 schools and colleges. The Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine is affiliated with seven major teaching hospitals and more than 20 other health-care institutions. Wright State's 630 international students represent 65 different countries. For 33 consecutive years, Wright State has brought home top honors from the annual National Model United Nations conference, a record unmatched by any other four-year college or university in the country. Wright State was named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll (for the past three years), the highest federal recognition a university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.
