The mission of Wingate University is to develop educated, ethical, and productive citizens at home and abroad. Following its Judeo-Christian heritage, the University seeks to cultivate the following in its students: Knowledge, Faith, and Service. The University offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional study programs taught by faculty committed to teaching and learning. Wingate's core curriculum is designed to develop aesthetic, cultural, and literary appreciation; analytical and problem-solving abilities; critical thinking; effective communication; integrated perspectives on civilizations, the individual, and the social group; and physical wellness. Wingate University sustains a community where the bases of faith and the ideal of integrity in all relationships are explored. Faculty and staff create and support opportunities for worship and faith development and emphasize the importance of service to God and humanity. The University also creates opportunities for international study and travel. Every year, juniors participate in Wingate's 10-day seminar/travel program:W'International. In the company of faculty, students travel to Germany, Martinique, Costa Rica, France, China, and Chile among other countries. In addition, some students spend a semester studying in London, the Dominican Republic, or Hong Kong. In keeping with the belief that diversity of experience is essential to a well-rounded education, Wingate University provides an extensive schedule of cultural and educational activities outside of the classroom through its Lyceum program, internships, recreational, and service-learning activities. Wingate also offers electives in music to students in any academic field:Chamber Choir, University Singers, Stadium Band, University Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Ensemble, and Wingate Chorale, allowing all interested students the chance to participate in a vivid music program. Athletics, whether intercollegiate or intramural, offer Wingate students the opportunity to develop physical fitness and to enhance their understanding of sportsmanship and teamwork.
