| School mission: | Monmouth University, a place where leaders look forward, is fully invested in the success of its students. It offers a learning environment where all classes are taught by professors-not graduate assistants. The accessibility of faculty, along with many distinct academic programs, gives Monmouth students an advantage when they step into the workforce. Monmouth students are confident, marketable, and well-rounded both in and out of the classroom. The University, which was founded in 1933, is a private, medium-sized, coeducational, accredited institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than fifty majors and concentrations. The University has a dedicated, distinguished faculty, and a ratio of 15 students to each professor ensures small classes and active learning. Innovative undergraduate majors and concentrations include marine science, software engineering, and music industry production. Recently added majors are: Spanish/International Business, Health Studies, and Theatre Arts. The most popular majors are business, education, communications, and psychology. Regardless of major, highly qualified students may be invited to join the Honors School. Additionally, the Monmouth Medical Scholars Program offers New Jersey residents a competitive seamless route to medical school. Experiential education, identified more frequently as an internship or cooperative learning, is a required part of the undergraduate curriculum-another way Monmouth separates itself from many other universities. Monmouth University is located in the New York metropolitan area-home to many prominent firms that are leaders in the technology, media, and financial industries.
