the best thing about TU is the size. it's big enough that i meet new people all the time, but small enough that i can also recognize someone just about everywhere i go on campus. i spend most of my free time hanging out in my apartment/dorm, which is true for most students. it seems to me that TU's school pride is growing year by year, which is encouraging. the biggest student complaint is PARKING. the school boasts about all the new housing on campus, but not only did they not provide enough space to accommodate the new resident's cars, they also hiked the rate for a parking permit waaay up. the administration will listen to you if you literally walk over to the administration building (i once walked into the president's office to make a complaint, and wasn't turned away), but they remain blissfully ignorant when any kind of email correspondence is attempted.
small class sizes are by far the best thing about the academics at TU. all professors are easy to get a hold of, and if they are at all mediocre, they WILL know you by name. there are of course a few terrible teachers, but they are notorious on campus and a quick poll of people in your major will guide you and help you to stay out of their courses. in general, however, i was happy with most professors ive had. class participation varies greatly from course to course; in some there's lively discussions, in others you can hear crickets. it's all about the environment the professor fosters.
the student association is TERRIBLE. since all officers are greek, they blatantly provide more for the frats and sororities on campus, and plan activities that are more of interest towards them. the organization does improve somewhat each year, although it is only marginally less corrupt. the best thing is probably that they provide free tickets to all sporting events. the student body is actually very diverse, and by the end of freshman year, it seems everyone has found their niche. you can find anime/computer nerds, student athletes, religious fanatics, and extreme liberals all on our little campus, you just have to know where to look. in general, everyone is incredibly tolerant, and discrimination is not something i have ever come across.
