Big Picture
Boulder is a good combo of city and nature. City in a sense that you are pretty close to night life, restaurants, and such, but you can go on hikes and road bike and still do the outdoors stuff. It definitely has the college town feel, but there are parts that get away from that as well. Football is pretty big here, even though our team isn't exactly that great. Like I said before, very little diversity. It looks like all of the students of color on campus are part of the CU athletics teams.
Academic Life
Of course there are the massive intro lectures that most are going to have to take at some point in their career here, but I've noticed that it is possible to still get to know your professor. It seems like there is a good balance because there are still classes that won't go above 20 or so people, give or take 2. As for the requirements, it depends on what department you are going into. Some are definitely more strenuous then others, but it's all relative. As for the professors, I feel that the majority, if not all, are more then qualified to teach in their fields, but there have been a few that are just ***ty instructors.
Student Body
If you are use to an ethnically diverse setting, Boulder will send you into culture shock. People may think I'm exaggerating, but look at the statistics or just go on to campus. It's started to improve a bit, but just a little. Granted this is not the entire student body, but there is a large influx of out of state trust funders that have always had life fed to them on a silver spoon. Just like any large universtiy, there are all walks of life, some just are more prevalent then others.
