From humble beginnings as a teacher training school in 1890, the University of Central Oklahoma is today the oldest institution of higher learning in Oklahoma. UCO serves as the home for several recognized and unique programs not found at any other institution in the state. UCO offers Oklahoma's only master's degree in Forensic Science and the state's only undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering. The university's College of Business Administration offers the only Professional Golf Management major in a six-state region. UCO has been lauded by the Council on Undergraduate Research as a university that is leading the way nationally in building an excellent undergraduate research program. In addition to this, UCO was the recipient of the 2005 Oklahoma Quality Award for Commitment. |
