Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico is a private, non-profit, co-educational institution of higher education founded in September 1966. At present, it is the largest private Engineering School in Puerto Rico and the only one in the metropolitan area of San Juan. It is also the largest private Hispanic Serving Engineering School in the United States and its Territories.
Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico offers the following licensed and accredited programs at the undergraduate level, a) Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying and Mapping (1974), b) Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1974), c) Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (1980), d) Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1984), e) Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1988), f) Bachelor of Business Administration (1990), g) Bachelor of Architecture (1995), h) Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (1997), i) Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering (1997), j) Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences (2002), k) Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (2003) and l) Bachelor in Engineering Mechanical Engineering in Aerospace (2009). At the graduate level PUPR offers, a) Master in Engineering Management (1992), b) Master of Business Administration with electives areas of students interest in International Enterprises, Computer Information Systems and General Business (1997), c) Master in Environmental Protection Management (1998), d) Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering (1998), e) Master in Manufacturing Engineering (1998), f) Master in Manufacturing Competitiveness (1998), g) Master of Science in Manufacturing Competitiveness (1998), h) Master of Science in Civil Engineering (1998), i) Master in Civil Engineering (1998), j) Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (2002), k) Master in Electrical Engineering (2002), l) Master in Computer Engineering; m) Master of Science in Computer Engineering (2004), n) Master in Landscape Architecture (2006) and Master in Mechanical Engineering in Aerospace (2009). On 2012, the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) granted the initial accreditation for the Master of Landscape Architecture.

All programs of PUPR are authorized by the state licensing agency, and its program in Geomatic Sciences accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSACS, 1995). All its engineering programs Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical and Environmental are accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET), the Architecture Program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and the Bachelor of Business Administration is accredited by IACBE.
