In 2010, Texas A&M University-Kingsville experienced unprecedented growth in both enrollment and its physical facilities. The campus embarked on a beautification and redevelopment initiative that sparked a renewed energy and sense of momentum among students, faculty and staff, alumni and other stakeholders. Our growth is the result of careful planning, assessment and integration. In fact, planning is the heart of every initiative undertaken at the university in the past two years. In 2010, we unveiled an academic plan and campus master plan that will shape our curricula and programs as well as the physical appearance and new construction on campus. The two plans are interdependent and designed to guide our growth through the next decade. Texas A&M University is ranked 33rd in the nation for bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanics and 37th for master's degrees awarded to Hispanics, according to The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education's Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics issue. The university also is ranked for awarding Hispanics degrees in the following areas, seventh in the nation for agriculture degree and fourth for multi interdisciplinary degrees. Rankings are based on information provided by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics. The data reflects degrees conferred between July 2009 and June 2010 to Hispanic students. The environmental engineering program at Texas A&M-Kingsville was ranked 12th in the nation for number of bachelor's degrees awarded to Hispanic students. The online master's degree in industrial engineering was ranked fourth in the nation for student engagement and 21st for student services and technology in a U.S. News and World Report ranking of online degree programs. The university is in the top 20 percent of all colleges across the nation, according to the Forbes 2011 List of America's Top Colleges. Of the 29 private and public universities from Texas, A&M-Kingsville ranked 16th; the list includes 17 public Texas universities and A&M-Kingsville is ranked sixth among that group; and A&M-Kingsville is ranked 174th in the nation for research. Texas A&M -Kingsville was ranked among the top universities in the nation, according to Washington Monthly's list of national university rankings, released as part of the publication's September 2011 College Guide. Of the 258 institutions included on the list, A&M-Kingsville ranks 180 on the National University Rankings. It is one of only nine Texas schools included in the lists top 200 schools in the nation and the only university ranked on the national university list from South Texas.
