School mission (as provided by the school):

The College of Saint Rose is a private liberal arts college in the heart of Albany that instills students with the passion, knowledge and purpose, not only to do great things-but extraordinary things. By becoming engaged with the community, whether it is helping to jump start inner-city micro businesses or inspiring at-risk kids to pursue science and math, Saint Rose students learn of their roles as citizen-leaders. Saint Rose hosts internationally renowned speakers, musicians and leaders so that our students are exposed to the exciting exchange of ideas & perspectives. Speakers include then U.S. Senator Hilary Clinton, Business Leader Joe Plumeri, and Education Reform Advocate Michelle Rhee. Our own Jimmy Fallon, former Saturday Night Live comedian and now late night star, returned in 2009 to accept his BA in communications which he finished through the College's Experienced Adult program. With professors who are recognized scholars in their fields and an average class size of 20, students develop mentoring relationships that last long after graduation. 66 undergraduate programs ranging from the humanities to education, mathematics and sciences to business, provides many choices and accelerated dual degrees enable students to complete both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years. This values-based education goes hand-in-hand with the kind of highly credentialed faculty and seminar-style classes often found in colleges double or triple the cost of Saint Rose. With one of the lowest private college tuitions in the entire northeast and more than $25 million in scholarships and grants awarded in 2011, Saint Rose is a remarkable educational experience at a price families can afford. Recent Saint Rose graduates are employed at numerous schools, colleges & companies, including the American Red Cross, Astra-Zeneca, Centers for Disease Control, Converse, DreamWorks Animation, IBM, Houghton-Mifflin, Lehman Brothers, Bank of America, Fox Broadcasting, Goldman Sachs, Hallmark Corp., Hearst Newspapers, KPMG, MasterCard Worldwide, MTV Networks, San Diego Padres, United States Environmental Protection Agency, United States District Court, Yamaha Corporation, World Health Organization and the VH-1 Network. Many students pursue graduate study at prestigious universities including Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, Dartmouth Medical School, Duke Medical School, Georgetown Law School, Harvard, Notre Dame, NYU, Tufts Medical School and Yale University. The College has invested more than $75 million in new facilities, renovations, technology upgrades and hiring new faculty. Completed in January 2010, the new Center for Communications and Interactive Media is home to new TV & radio studios, a live recording studio, video and film viewing room, multimedia computer labs and offices for the College's communications & music industry faculty. It will joins the new $15 million Massry Center for the Arts and the Campus Theatre to form an arts and communications section of the campus. Within the Massry Center's 46,000 square feet of wireless & smart classrooms, practice & performance space, music students experience the finest sound quality as they rehearse & perform a wide variety of orchestral & choral works. The College also revitalized an entire city neighborhood with the new Plumeri Sports Complex featuring an NCAA level baseball field, softball field and an artificial turf soccer/lacrosse field as well as a natural grass practice field dedicated in September 2010. These fields are home fields for the Saint Rose Golden Knights, who have regularly won bids to NE-10 conference and Div. II national tournaments and for intramural and club sports. Already in the construction phase is a new 225-bed environmentally-friendly residence hall with apartment-style suites complete with kitchens, and a new School of Business with a focus in team projects, experiential learning and internships as well as a Center for Entrepreneurship.
