Saint Anselm College, one of the nation's finest Catholic liberal arts colleges, was founded in 1889 by the world's oldest religious order, the Benedictines. The College is located on a hilltop overlooking Manchester, New Hampshire's largest city. The picturesque 400-acre campus is less than an hour's drive from Boston, the seacoast, the White Mountains, and New Hampshire's Lakes Region. Dedicated to excellence, Saint Anselm College is noted for its excellent liberal arts education and professional preparation for a changing world. Students develop into precise and critical thinkers, articulate and clear communicators, and active and compassionate citizens. The curriculum prepares students with the critical skills and competencies that serve them well for success in their professional careers. With more than 80 academic majors and minors to choose from, Saint Anselm College provides the options, experience, and mentors to guide students toward their goals. The College has an outstanding faculty, 91% of whom hold a doctorate or the highest degree in their field. Guiding students to lead meaningful and balanced lives is also part of our mission and reflected in our many extra-and co-curricular options. The Meelia Center for Community Service and the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, for example, together offer more than 50 different opportunities for students to become civically engaged and globally informed. Named a College with a Conscience by The Princeton Review, and classified by the Carnegie Foundation for Community Engagement & Outreach and Partnerships, Saint Anselm shapes the kind of leader the world is hungry for; not only smart, but good. Through the Meelia Center for Community Service, Saint Anselm College mobilizes student talent and energy to assist 14 community partnerships and more than 30 other community service agencies throughout Greater Manchester. Annually, some 850 students, faculty, and staff volunteer more than 20,000 community service hours.The New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College is a magnet for national and regional leaders in politics, civic affairs, and the media who cover them. Students have direct access to visitors who come to the Institute to meet with groups of all types, from small group chats to presentations to a few hundred students and community members, to nationally televised Presidential debates. Through the Center for Experiential Learning, students in all programs have access to internships, study abroad, service learning, and career education services. Student-athletes compete in 20 intercollegiate sports in the Northeast 10 Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division II level. A well-rounded intramural and recreational program provides opportunities for students at every level of skill to participate in athletic activities.
