The wooded campus of Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) is located in Marietta, Ga., about 20 minutes northwest of Atlanta. At Southern Polytechnic, there are about eight master’s degree programs, in addition to undergraduate degrees through the Division of Engineering, and in the Schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering Technology, and Construction; Computing and Software Engineering; Engineering Technology and Management; and Arts and Sciences. The Career and Counseling Center at Southern Polytechnic State University helps students find jobs and internships, develop their résumés, and manage stress. The university also hosts on-campus interviews each year with employers such as G.E. Power Systems and Turner Construction Co.
Besides academics, SPSU students can get involved by joining more than 100 campus organizations and playing recreational sports. More serious athletes can try out for the SPSU Hornets varsity teams, which compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Southern States Athletic Conference. At SPSU, there are varsity teams for men’s basketball, baseball, and soccer. The only varsity sport for women is basketball, which reflects the roughly 20 percent-female SPSU student body.

Southern Polytechnic State University, since its founding in 1948, has earned an exceptional academic reputation in the areas of technology, science, engineering and related fields. Through its five schools: (1) the School of Architecture and Construction Management, (2) the School of Arts and Sciences, (3) the School of Computing and Software Engineering, (4) the School of Engineering, and (5) the School of Engineering Technology and Management, SPSU offers students a wide variety of majors from Mechatronics Engineering to Biology to Computer Science to Computer Game Design and Development to Education to Mechanical Engineering Technology. The University's Architecture program is the only nationally-accredited Bachelor of Architecture in the University System of Georgia. Southern Polytechnic's student competition teams consistently win top honors in regional, national, and international competitions. SPSU attracts outstanding students, whose SAT scores are among the highest in the University System for entering freshmen. Employers love hiring Southern Poly graduates because they are so well prepared for their careers.
