CHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN, and more Christian. The school is a private southern Baptist school which I understand but it seems as though no one even tries to think for themselves. Instead of using this first opportunity of freedom to question the crap that these people had been force fed their entire lives they just continue to blindly accept life exactly as their upper class parents told them. If you are very wealth, christian, closed minded, and don't mind the school not allowing people of the opposite sex in your dorm but for 2 hours per week, then Samford is perfect for you. Before you can graduate from Samford you will become very familiar with Convocation. Every Tuesday and Thursday the entire campuss shuts down (no classes held) and the majority of the underclassmen will attend convocation which is just like church. The university will have speakers come from all over the country and each will give a lecture on any given topic. Every so often on speaker will make some sense, speaking about acceptacne or equality to all people but most of the time these speakers are ignored by the students. All students are required to attend convocation 58 times before they can graduate.
Academically Samford is exemplary. Samford is very very expensive and in exchange for that you will be in very small classes with plenty of one on one attention from teachers. I have several classes each semester with 5 or so other students in them. I know most of my teachers personally and have received plenty of help from them whenever needed.
I have been at Samford for four years and next semester I look forward to knowing 2 students personally (one being my sister). Nearly without exception the entire student body come from an incredibly wealthy, incredibly conservative family. Normally this would not bother me but I am nearly ignored by everyone because I do not quite fit in to the rest of the nearly identical student body. If you want to fit in you will need to pick up some sunglasses, a polo, pleated khaki shorts, and a pro Bush sticker to put on your seventy thousand dollar car. I am further thought of as an outsider because I drink alcohol (legally) and am not a Christian, largely as a result of the conservative exclusive attitude of the students who fear anything slightly different from what is seen in their Bibles. If you would like to be feared for being slightly different, Samford is all for you. As far as diversity Samford makes me feel like IÕm in an episode of Leave it To Beaver. If you are African American at Samford you play foot ball, without exception.

all sorrostitutes and frat-tastic guys are all the same and think that is a good thing, students are politicaly active if they are folowing the crowd, no one drinks and look down on those who do.
