the best thing about sacred heart is the academics. i could do without the people sometimes, but usually people have a good heart, they just get caught up in drama. I would change the attitude of a lot of people. The school is just the right size. When i tell people that i go to scared heart, they usually say "is that in bridgeport?" I spend most of my time in mahog (which should be bigger than it is) and the library. The administration here takes over the students a lot of the time. If a student reserves the window across from the factory, but then the administration needs it.. they tell the students "oh sorry, you cant have it anymore". There is a lot of school pride but it's diming down because it's getting overly expensive. The most frequent student complaints are that everything is too expensive, including books, tuition, getting a new meal card even if we havent lost it but it just isnt work anymore and having to pay $20 for it.
Professors do know my name in most instances. My favorite class is probabily psych 302 because the teacher has a great enthusiasm for the class. My least favorite is sociology because the teacher has no idea what hes talking about and loves to give us busy work that makes no sense and doesn't actually help to learn. Students study a lot, but not on the weekends. class participation is NOT common. some students are competitive, and some just dont care. the most unique class i've taken was art history because i learned a lot of things i never thought i would. My major is psychology and i'm going into education. it's interesting. SHUs academic requirements are set just right but a lot of teachers will make it easy for students to get a B, but really really hard to get an A. It depends what class you take, but some gear towards just learning for it's own sake.
I've never had a bad experience with racial, religious, LGBT, or socio-economic groups on campus. No one seems to care about those things. I think an asian-american would probabily feel out of place just because theres only 2-3 asian americans here. Most students wear jeans and a tank top to class. Skirts in the summer. few people will wear sweatpants unless you were up all night and didnt sleep and needed to be comfortable. Everyone interacts with everyone. Four tables-- sorority table, frat table, pretty table, smart table. most people are from long island and are rich. No one cares about politics, or few very people. people are always talking about how much money they will earn in the future because money is all that matters to a lot of people that go here.
