Mission
School mission: At Molloy College, students gain that "I will" attitude they need to make a difference in our fast-paced, ever changing world. Conveniently located in Rockville Centre, Molloy offers students a rich and multidimensional educational experience. Our faculty is accomplished, yet approachable, leading small classes where students are encouraged to think critically and explore creatively. Combining the strengths of academic excellence and leadership with personal, compassionate mentoring, we bring out the best in every student - here and around the globe. Through our Global-Learning Program, students study abroad, traveling to such exotic and enriching destinations as India, Thailand, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and even Australia. Immersing themselves in another culture - for as little as a few weeks to an entire semester - students gain knowledge, while learning acceptance and understanding. The Molloy campus is alive and vibrant. Students have abundant opportunities to explore new interests, pursue career goals, and enrich our community. At Molloy, there's a club or extracurricular activity for every interest. Whether it's participating in a music ensemble, writing for a campus publication, or serving as a student government representative, with more than 40 clubs and honor societies, Molloy has something for each and every student. Athletics and academics go hand-in-hand. For those who choose to combine athletic interest with scholastic success, Molloy offers a number of winning programs. Our students participate competitively in the East Coast Conference (ECC) and in the NCAA Division II. The women's basketball team won the ECC Championship in 2008. Molloy students have many exciting opportunities to "fast track" their careers. With dual bachelor's/master's degree program offerings in Accounting, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Education, and Music Therapy, Molloy students can complete a dual degree in five years. Our tradition of community service is as strong as ever. Students are encouraged to make a difference in our local communities and many become involved in Molloy-sponsored service projects such as BoxTown, a simulation program that educates students about homelessness while raising money to support those affected. In recent years, the College also has become a focal point of civic discourse with key community forums. Top regional, national, and international leaders such as Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell, the late Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto, humanitarian Paul Rusesabagina, and economist and editor of Newsweek International Fareed Zakaria have come to Molloy to focus on critical and timely issues. Molloy College continues to raise public awareness of critical issues through its "Public Square" television program airing on Telecare. Molloy recently launched two new initiatives. The Sustainability Institute at Molloy College is Long Island's first-ever venture combining environmental advocacy and sustainability education within an academic institution. Molloy also recently kicked off its new Irish Studies Institute with a presentation from The Honorable Bertie Ahern, the former Prime Minister of Ireland. By reaching out - to our students, our communities, and our global leaders - Molloy has built a rich, dynamic, and diverse educational environment over the past 50 years. It is within this welcoming, yet challenging, environment that Molloy College students develop that all-important confidence, that strong, "I will" attitude that enables them to succeed in their careers, and more importantly, to make a difference in our world.
