Service Learning

In service-learning programs, such as those at the schools listed below, volunteering in the community is an instructional strategy – and a requirement of a student's course work. The service relates to what happens in class, and in turn, the course work plays off of the volunteering.

In spring 2013 we invited college presidents, chief academic officers, deans of students and deans of admissions from more than 1,500 schools to nominate up to 10 institutions with stellar examples of service learning. Colleges and universities that were mentioned most often are listed here, in alphabetical order.
