Big Picture
Purchase's location - in proximity to New York City is one of the great things about it. It's super easy to jump on the train and spend the afternoon or the weekend in the city. But we also have tons of really great stuff going on on campus as well. We have the best events - Culture Shock (a huge two-day music festival in the spring) Zombie Prom (super-fun and super-spooky dance party where everyone re-creates their best zombie get-up) and Pancake Madness!(which is a dance party/pajama party to kick off Finals week, where the faculty and staff serve you breakfast food and you can get free tshirts and other stuff)
Academic Life
ALL of my professors know my name. The best thing about Purchase's academics is that the classes are small, and the professors are either PhD's in their field or working professionals. For example, my broadcast professor is a producer at NBC, and the class has 10 students in it. What more could I ask for? So its a great opportunity to build contacts that you can use when it comes time to get a job or apply for an internship. Another example is that a good friend of mine is a Bio major and he was offered an opportunity to do research with one of his professors over the summer. He will be published with her when she publishes her findings (which is almost unheard of in undergrad!) and he was also able to go to a national conference in Washington, D.C. to present their research to thousands of other scientist. Pretty amazing stuff going on at the undergrad level here at the Purch.
Student Body
The student body is fulled with students who are passionate about what their doing here. Whether it be social science, music, theater, dance, research - they're all really into what their doing. I've been able to meet and speak with so many people who I've learned so much from because they love to talk about what they're doing.
