| Mission | |
| School mission: | As America's Career University, Johnson & Wales combines the best of a liberal arts education and a career education to prepare graduates for successful careers in a variety of industries. While all students major in specialized programs, including but not limited to culinary arts, hotel management, nutrition, advertising, criminal justice, financial services and marketing communications, they are also enrolled in arts & sciences courses to ensure they graduate with the critical writing, thinking and math skills required for career success and personal fulfillment. Some other distinguishing features of a JWU education are the Upside-down curriculum, in which students take courses in their major during their first term; Co-ops with industry and internships at University-owned properties that provide practical experience in students' fields of interest; instruction from faculty with industry experience; and small class sizes. |
