| School mission: | Prairie View A&M University, located 45 miles northwest of Houston, TX, is a historically black university (HBCU) dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. As the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state, PVAMU serves a diverse ethnic and socioeconomic population.
