Mission
School mission: Eastern New Mexico University provides an intensive first-year experience that includes a freshman seminar and learning communities for all incoming students. This first semester is supported with careful academic advising, the assessment of student learning, and the monitoring of students' satisfaction with campus services and activities. As students progress, their academic progress is monitored and supported by tutoring, mentoring, and advising services and by close interactions with faculty and staff. Opportunities for on-campus employment and activities provide students with the chance to build a campus network of friends and supporters. Whether they are taking online classes or studying in traditional, technology-supported classrooms, students find a personal touch, quality programs, and the opportunity for real learning throughout their undergraduate career. New undergraduate programs such as Digital Cinema Arts, large programs in broadcast communication, biology, teacher education, and business provide students with a wide range of majors preparing them for high-demand careers. Students can also pursue graduate study in many areas including anthropology, chemistry, speech-language pathology, sports administration, and school counseling. As a Hispanic-serving institution, Eastern New Mexico University takes very seriously its commitment to provide the opportunities of higher education to a diverse student body and to prepare them for a globally interconnected world. A special upper-division requirement allows students to explore global and diversity issues through interdisciplinary approaches. The University's goal is to meet students where they are academically, to enhance their learning and critical skills, to provide them with excellent training in their chosen major, and to assure their success in college and in their chosen careers.
