Museums or special academic buildings on campus	The 725-acre Arboretum at Penn State Behrend contains over 200 identified species of living trees, related flora, and an herbarium. The new Mehalso Observatory was made possible by a gift from alumnus Dr. Robert Mehalso and his wife, Elizabeth. It features an 18-cm Meade refractor equipped with computer control and a CCD camera, in a new 14-ft diameter Ash dome, about 50 feet from the existing 10-foot diameter dome which was refitted with a Meade 12-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
