Ouachita Baptist University is located in Arkadelphia, Ark., about 65 miles southwest of Little Rock. The majority of students at OBU live on campus in one of the residence halls, which are all single-gender, or in university-owned apartments. Although there are no national Greek organizations on campus, there are a few local social club chapters. Students can also choose from a wide range of academic, service, and professional organizations. The OBU Tigers field a number of NCAA Division II athletic teams including football, basketball, soccer, tennis, and swimming. OBU’s Outdoor Recreation program offers hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and canoe trips throughout the year.
Ouachita Baptist University is organized into eight different schools and colleges: the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Frank D. Hickingbotham School of Business, Chesley and Elizabeth Pruet School of Christian Studies, Michael D. Huckabee School of Education, School of Fine Arts, School of Humanities, J. D. Patterson School of Natural Sciences, and W.H. Sutton School of Social Sciences. The Carl Goodson Honors Program offers motivated students a more challenging academic experience. The Academic Enrichment Center aids students through peer tutoring, academic and social counseling, career counseling, financial aid information, and by giving access to events on campus. Academic and social life at OBU are guided by the school’s Christian mission.
