| Mission | |
| School mission: | The University of Texas of the Permian Basin has garnered national attention with awards for communications, arts, kinesiology, and online degree programs. Our business school is ranked in the top third of U.S. business schools, and earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)-International. Our social work program is nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Our art school and School of Education are also nationally accredited. We also offer degrees in some of the fastest growing career fields such as education, criminal justice, computer science, petroleum technology and information systems. The student population is diverse and reflective of regional demographics, with both traditional and commuting students. Students cite interaction with faculty as a strength. Centers of excellence include both the JBS Public Leadership Institute, offering leadership education statewide and distinguished speakers' panels on national leadership topics, and the Center for Energy and Economic Diversification, focusing on energy education and research. The attractive campus and apartment-style student housing create a pleasant environment for study and socializing. We are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division-II. Sports include men's and women's soccer, cross country, swimming and basketball, as well as men's baseball, women's softball and volleyball. The athletic program also supports cheerleading and a dance team. |
