School mission and unique qualities (as provided by the school):

Northwest Florida State College improves lives. As an open door institution, the college is committed to providing access to a quality education and offers diplomas, certificates, and associate degrees; five baccalaureate programs in project management, nursing, and teacher education are also available. Students pursuing an associate's degree earn a general A.A. degree, or a specific, technically focused A.S. or A.A.S degree. NWFSC's strong technical education program is updated regularly to respond to workforce needs and opportunities. Students are placed using Florida's placement test, but ACT and SAT scores are also accepted. Testifying to the quality of education offered at NWFSC, lower division students transferring to the region's university outperform that institution's native students in terms of GPA. Flexible scheduling and distance learning options accommodate working students and those with family responsibilities. The college's facilities are exceptional, with the library, arts complex, and science building constructed to university standards, and wireless Internet connectivity throughout all buildings. Cultural events and athletic teams are highly rated. NWFSC is in the Florida Panhandle, with seven locations, and serves primarily students from both Okaloosa and Walton counties. NWFSC's Collegiate High School is open to 10th-12th graders, and it has been an A+ school since its inception.
