| Mission | |
| School mission: | Recognized as one of the nation's leading liberal arts colleges, St. Olaf offers an academically rigorous education with a vibrant faith tradition as a college of the Lutheran church. Widely known for its programs in mathematics, natural sciences, and music, St. Olaf also provides dynamic opportunities for interdisciplinary study. Committed to global education, more than two-thirds of St. Olaf students study off campus during part of their four years of study. Since 1996, St. Olaf has produced 5 Rhodes scholars, more than any other liberal arts college in the nation, and 49 Fulbright recipients. St. Olaf ranks 8th overall among baccalaureate colleges in the number of graduates who go on to earn doctoral degrees, placing first in mathematics and statistics, second in religion/theology, and third in art/music and foreign language. Chemistry, physics, and biological sciences also fall within the top ten. |
