A small, private, residential, co-educational college with a diverse student population, Newberry College offers baccalaureate degrees in 30 majors, 35 minors, and 29 areas of concentration. Founded in 1856, the College is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools: Commission on Colleges, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the National Association of Schools of Music and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Core courses emphasize liberal arts, sciences, and technology. Among the most popular degrees are business administration, teacher education, biology, health professions, science, psychology, communications, and English. Unique degree offerings include social media. The College has a radio and television station, and offers 16 NCAA Division II sports, plus women's field hockey, competitive cheerleading, a dance team and a marching band.

Newberry College provides a tuition promise that ensures affordability for current and future students. This promise freezes current tuition rates for incoming freshman and currently enrolled students. Students will not see an increase in tuition for the 4 consecutive years they attend the College. Incoming transfer students also receive a similar guarantee.
