School mission: The School of Visual Arts, located in New York City, is one of the largest independent regionally accredited colleges of art in the United States. One aspect that distinguishes SVA from other colleges is the size and professional standing of its faculty. More than 700 working professionals, representing an array of fields in the fine and applied arts, share their talents and experiences as members of the SVA faculty. Each faculty member is committed to the professional art world as well as to teaching the next generation of artists. To ensure that students are well prepared for the challenges they will face in life and art, the SVA faculty includes 150 scholars, authors, critics, and historians teaching art history and humanities courses.
