| Mission | |
| School mission: | Founded in 1876, the United States Coast Guard Academy (CGA) has a proud tradition as one of the finest colleges in the country. The Coast Guard Core Values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty are the bedrock to our institution. Supporting these values are the Academy's goals to develop leaders of character, groom fleet ready Ensigns, and create life-long learners. When you've earned your four-year Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as an Ensign, you're prepared professionally, physically, and mentally as a leader and life-long learner. You'll build friendships to last a life-time, study with inspiring teachers in small classes, and train during the summer aboard America's Tall Ship EAGLE, and the service's newest, most sophisticated ships and aircraft. Top performers spend their senior summer traveling on exciting internships. Graduates must serve for five years and have unmatched opportunities to attend flight training and graduate school, all funded by the Coast Guard. Your leadership potential and desire to serve your fellow Americans are what counts. Our student body reflects the best America has to offer - thirty percent are women and fourteen percent are minorities, fully reflecting the diversity of our nation. CGA is a NCAA Division II School offering 23 varsity sports. The largest club on campus is the multicultural club, GENESIS, seconded by Campaneros, our Latino club. |
