Montana Tech of the University of Montana is a public institution located in the southwest region of the state, midway between Yellowstone and Glacier Parks. Students can major in any of the 40 academic programs at Montana Tech, which boasts a very high job placement rate. Although Montana Tech doesn’t offer fraternities or sororities, there are nearly 40 clubs and sports at every level. The Montana Tech Diggers varsity teams include football, basketball, golf, volleyball, and hockey, which each compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Frontier Conference. Montana Tech students can also spend their time appreciating the area’s rich past. Located in the historic mining town of Butte, the Montana Tech campus is home to the Mineral Museum and is just across the street from the Museum of Mining. Students can also take advantage of the school’s impressive landscape and nearby parks by skiing, camping, or fishing with their classmates.

With more than 40 academic programs and many campus clubs and organizations, Tech offers tremendous opportunities in a student-friendly environment. Montana Tech takes pride in quality instruction provided by highly qualified faculty members. A 15:1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of 20 facilitate the relationships that lead to student success. Students learn from professors, most with current industry experience, not teaching assistants. Over $1 million in new student scholarships are awarded to new students each year. The low cost of living and affordable housing in Butte is a huge benefit to Tech students. Montana Tech has had a ten-year annual average placement rate of 96% or above with exceptional starting salaries. Tech is located in beautiful southwestern Montana with abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation. Campus life is full of activities ranging from hikes to the M to live bands to various fun events in the residence halls. Life here is laid back and personal where you will be on a first-name basis with your professors. Classes are challenging with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
