Big Picture
MSU is my favorite place to be. I will obviously say it is the best place, because I go there. I absolutely love that even though it is a huge campus, one can find their niche and find people to hang out with. It is a huge diverse place and you come across many different people. Even though East Lansing is your typical college town, East Lansing is basically state, it still has a nice community of adults who raise their children in this town.
Academic Life
It really depends on the teacher/professor in regards to the academics at MSU. I have had some horrible professors and probably received better education at high school and then there's amazing professors who really engaged the students. I really think that MSU is educated towards getting a job and learning, depending on what major you have. The communication department is really focused on preparing students for a job (on the most part). Some classes prepare you for grad school, but expect the majority of com majors to go out into the workforce. I do believe that students have intellectual conversations outside of class, unfortunately, most of the time students don't' have their facts straight so they sound idiotic.
Student Body
I think that MSU's population is quite diverse. Unfortnately, it is one of the most segregated campuses around. I do feel that students are able to find people that may pertain to their type of interests, but one has to go around looking for those. The majority of students come from suburban/metro detroit and from the east side of the state. There are differences amongst the students, probably based on class the most, but it isn't as clique-ish as it was in high school.
