MCNY has been offering urban adult students an accelerated educational program since 1964. The College is a private, not-for-profit, Master L institution offering motivated individuals the opportunity to complete an associate's degree in 16 months, a bachelor's degree in two years eight months, and a master's degree in one year. It serves 1,100 students and operates three complete semesters a year under two schools: The Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education and the School for Management. Most students work full time and attend class full time. The College's unique Purpose-Centered Education focuses on a competency area or theme each semester called a Purpose. Classes are designed to support and integrate the Purpose and students link theory and classroom learning in an applied fashion. Students also receive credit for internship or fieldwork in a real world setting. Learning is documented through a Constructive Action, a real-world improvement project at an organization. MCNY students not only use the Constructive Action to document learning, but some students have started non-profit agencies, NGO's and for-profit businesses with their CA projects. This demonstrates the College's mission of fostering personal and professional development, empowering students to lead, promote social justice and encouraging positive change in the workplaces and community. |
