Big Picture
The best thing about LSU has to be the tradition and the football games. I don't think I could come up with one thing to change. It's a big school and big campus, but not as overwhelming as you would think. Having recently won the BCS National Championship, people's reactions about me going to LSU are usually pretty positive. I spend most of my time on campus in class; besides that, I don't really study on campus or eat on campus. Baton Rouge is definitely a college town. Life in this city centers around sports, drinking, and tradition. No matter where you look, whether it is on stores' signs, banners, t-shirts, advertisements, etc. there is a huge display of school pride. An unusual thing about LSU would probably be the way we tailgate. Having students from other colleges come visit for games, we usually notice their eyes getting wider and wider at our customs on gameday. I'll always remember the food (boudin, crawfish, jambalaya, etc.), the football games, the crazy nights, and the unity of the student body.
Academic Life
My professors definitely do not know my name. My smallest class is about 50 and my largest class is 1,007 (seriously). My favorite class is probably Religion: Faith and Doubt because it's an open forum and almost every session there is a good conversation among students. My least favorite class is Microbiology. It's ridiculously tedious. Class participation is common depending on the type of course. I'm a communications major, so there is definitely an amount of participation neccesary to succeed in the course.
Student Body
When it comes to LSU's student body, the one word that comes to mind is "diversity". I have to admit, the greek life on campus is prominent, but not limited to only that. There are all the usual types of students; anything from race to style can set students apart from one another. The typical clothing seen on campus is casual: North Face fleece, jeans, Sperrys. A lot of LSU students are from cities around Louisiana, but there are also a lot from Texas and Mississippi.
