Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) offers Central Louisiana access to affordable baccalaureate and associate degrees in a caring environment that challenges students to seek excellence in and bring excellence to their studies and their lives. LSUA is committed to a reciprocal relationship of enrichment with the diverse community it serves. Located in rural central Louisiana, LSUA is the only public institution in Louisiana exclusively dedicated to undergraduate education. One hundred percent of the university's resources are committed to undergraduate students and their success. The new Multi Purpose Academic Center opening fall 2011 will enable students to learn, study, and grow in a state-of-the-art facility. Over 72,000 sq.ft. of classroom, theatre, music, art, and faculty office space will allow LSUA students to truly experience some of the best learning space in the state. Faculty and staff are committed to student success and work diligently to ensure student's have access to resources needed to succeed in college. There is an on-campus writing lab where students can get assistance with writing papers, and the math and biology departments offer free tutoring by faculty and outstanding students. Licensed personal counselors, professional career and academic counselors, and professional advisors ensure students get off to a good start. Faculty advisors get to know students and mentor them as they learn and take classes in their chosen discipline. The entire campus has wireless Internet access and all classrooms, offices, computer labs, and housing spaces - including common rooms and private bedrooms, have high-speed wired connections to the Internet. The Oaks apartment complex is the on campus residence facility. It contains four apartment buildings made up of one, two, and four-bedroom units complemented by an outdoor swimming pool, outdoor basketball court, beach volleyball court, barbecue space, and an activity center with a game room, computer lab, vending, and laundry facilities. Student life includes a variety of student organizations and offices that host different events. Some of the most popular include the Student Government crawfish boil, the Ms. LSUA pageant, and the Mardi Gras parade. The LSUA Fitness Center has an Olympic-size indoor pool, weight room, and basketball court. Adjacent athletic facilities include a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, and jogging trail. LSUA competes in the NAIA conference in men's baseball and women's softball. Players excel on the field and in the classroom. LSUA makes a difference in the lives of students. Come learn with us!
