The best thing about Gonzaga for me is that it is far away from Michigan. The campus is visually appealing and the people are all really nice and it doesn't take long to make friends (like I thought it would being a transfer junior and all.) One thing I would change about Gonzaga is the office hours of Foley, and not to mention the office hours of the Prof. and staff it is so difficult to get one on one time with the professors.....There are also very little opportunities to get tutors for classes that you are having problems with, everyone takes for granted students, like me, who didn't know anyone and don't know the processes to go through to get help with academics. I think Gonzaga is borderline too small....You see the same people basically everyday and you recognize them...it's less interesting than if I had gone to a larger school in that respect. People react like they are impressed or they mention basketball when they hear that I am going to Gonzaga. I spend most of my time at Foley on campus. Spokane is not a college town at all. I don't have a car this semester and it sucks because everywhere is soooooooooo far away. I don't mind it so much but it really starts to wear you down. I don't know what the biggest controversy on campus was....as far as I know there hasn't been any.....There is a lot of school pride but I feel like it gets carried away sometimes especially at basketball games, kids might get a little carried away and be rude. I don't know if there is anything unusual about Gonzaga, other than the fact that it is over 100 years old which is pretty impressive. I mean you know they're doing something right. Most frequent student complaints would have to be about professors not posting things on blackboard yet they expect us to check it daily. Also, without a car in this city you are lost.
Professors know my name usually. My favorite class would have to of been actually either my religion classes surprisingly or my computer classes. Least favorite class would be philosophy or business law. Students are constantly studying here. Class participation is usual you get a few of the big mouth out-spoken kids that have an opinion about everything but usually class participation is forced. Gonzaga students do have intellectual conversations outside of class which is refreshing. Students aren't very competitive I don't think. For the most part the students are very focused and do a good job in class which motivates you to want to do a good job. My major is changing from accounting because accounting is just ridiculous here....and the teachers are usually unavailable outside of class, you usually need to schedule an appointment a day ahead of time at least....it's a job to get ahold of them. I feel like the academic requirements are strict and slightly high but I also think that is what give Gonzaga the good name that I think it has. I think the education that I have might be geared toward getting a job but I'm not sure....
My experiences have been positive with all of them. I think a transfer student from another school who has to live off campus like I did would feel out of place. I had to live off campus because I was a transfer junior student and Gonzaga didn't have anywhere for me to stay other than one of it's houses off campus. It was extremely difficult to meet people...it took me about a whole semester to actually meet people my own age. I was thrown in with the freshman during their welcome week and I felt like that was a little inappropriate. I was over all of that and I was thrown in with a bunch of kids straight out of high school. Lame! Students wear clothes to class. Dining hall...Crew team, skateboarders, knights, loud freshmen. Most of Gonzaga students are from WA., OR., CA.. Middle class is the most prevalent maybe even upper-middle class. Students are somewhat politically aware although most of them are very liberal left wingers.

It's too small and coming in as a transfer student sucks because you get thrown in with the freshmen.
