Golden Gate University (GGU) is a small, private school in the financial district of San Francisco that’s designed for students who are also working adults. GGU offers more than 80 degrees to undergraduate students, and master’s programs in the Edward S. Ageno School of Business and in the fields of information technology, taxation, and law. To accommodate students who work, GGU has weekend and evening classes in San Francisco and at the school’s regional campuses in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and Seattle. Students can earn a degree without going to any of those campuses by enrolling in GGU’s Cyber Campus online learning program. On campus, there are no university-owned residential halls and no sports teams. However, students can get involved outside the classroom by joining more than 40 campus organizations, participating in student government, or writing for the Campus Currents newsletter. Notable GGU alumni include Joan Blades, who cofounded the MoveOn.org political action committee.
