Excelsior College is a regionally accredited, nonprofit distance learning institution that focuses on removing obstacles to the educational goals of adult learners. Founded in 1971 and located in Albany, NY, Excelsior is a proven leader in the assessment and validation of student knowledge. It offers more efficient and affordable access to degree completion through multiple avenues: its own online courses and college-level proficiency examinations, and the acceptance in transfer of credit from other colleges and universities as well as recognized corporate and military training programs. We offer degree programs and credit-bearing certificate programs through our schools of business and technology, health sciences, liberal arts, and nursing. Our Center for Professional Development provides noncredit career advancement programs in a variety of fields that can lead to professional certifications. Excelsior, where nearly one-third of our enrolled students are active duty, reserve military and veterans, is a recognized "military friendly" college. The School of Nursing, which advances students along a continuum of rigorous nursing education, has been designated a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, one of just 15 such centers in the nation. Excelsior is home to the Tau Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing and to a chapter of the American Nuclear Society Honor Society. Accredited by the MIddle States Commission on Higher Education, Excelsior College also holds specialty accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC),the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). |
