Mission
School mission: Mercy College is a private college in lower New York with a unique combination of over 90 undergraduate and graduate programs for nearly 9,000 students at its main campus in Dobbs Ferry plus additional campus locations in Bronx, Manhattan, White Plains and Yorktown Heights. The average Mercy College student will save nearly $10,000 in loans as compared to other New York state students; that's nearly 42 percent below the state average and 27 percent lower than the national average. Added with Mercy's scholarship offerings, the extra financial support from the NY State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and federal Pell grants combine to reduce the financial obligations of a college education without sacrificing quality. Mercy College is proud to be one of the 851 colleges and universities nationwide that is considered SAT optional, alongside institutions such as George Mason University, Providence College and Drew University. Mercy College mixes keen academic minds and professional experts to ensure all teachers are current and the best in their respective fields. 180 full-time faculty include Fulbright Scholars, published and national best-selling authors. At Mercy College, faculty members know students. 94 percent of all undergraduate classes have fewer than 30 students and 70 percent have fewer than 20 students. The Mercy College Personalized Achievement Contract (PACT) is a groundbreaking program designed to maximize student success in college and beyond by partnering students with professional mentors who will build a customized plan for each participating student. The distinguished Mercy College Honors Program, established in 1971, offers unique preparation for high achieving students through exceptional academic challenges, an enriched learning experience, and engaging co-curricular activities. In addition to being a long-time member of Model UN, Mercy College is also an NGO (non-governmental organization) associated with the United Nations through the Department of Public Information. Transferring to Mercy College is incredibly convenient with over 12,500 courses from regional colleges built into the College's course equivalency database.
