Located in Lookout Mountain, Ga. is the 300-acre Covenant College, a Presbyterian Church of America-affiliated liberal arts school. Students admitted to the college have the opportunity to explore more than 50 student organizations. Intramural sports are extremely popular at Covenant College with more than 75 percent of the student body participating. Students are required to live on campus during their first three years at the school, and each residence hall has mixed housing. This means upperclassmen and underclassmen live among each other. Along with resident assistants in each residence hall, discipleship coordinators are assigned to each floor to lead Bible studies and guide spiritual development among the students. Known as the Scots and Lady Scots, Covenant College fields 13 varsity teams that compete in the Great South Athletic Conference in the NCAA Division III.
Covenant College was originally founded in 1955 in Pasadena, Calif. and was not established in Georgia until 1965. The college is located in a suburb of Chattanooga, Tenn., and many students make regular visits to experience the city life. Situated atop Lookout Mountain in Georgia, the campus provides views of the Smoky Mountains; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and seven states. Notable alumni of the college include poet Aaron Belz and former publisher of WORLD Magazine Joel Belz.
