Big Picture

So far I have really enjoyed CSU. The campus is nice but parking is death and only continues to get worse! The buildings are not the most aesthetically pleasing but I am not really at school for the aesthetics of the campus. If I could change one thing, it would not be about the school, it would be about the weather. I feel like it is ALWAYS windy in Fort Collins. This makes it very unenjoyable walking or biking to class.

Academic Life

Many of the lower level classes are so big that unless you make an effort to really get to know the professors you will never have any idea who they are. As you continue on in your course of study, I feel that if you make that effort to get to know your prefessors, they will make the effort to get to know you as well. I feel that the campus has made it very easy and accessible to get involved with other students in your class for study sessions or to discuss class. My only road block I have met with the academics is that I did not register for math courses into my second semester sophmore year and now I have hit a crossroad where unless I finish math, I cannot continue on in my course of study. My best piece of advice would be to MEET WITH ADVISORS EVERY SEMESTER, begining FRESHMAN year to plan out your schedule in order to graduate on time.

Student Body

CSU is very open and accepting of all races, religions, and orientations. I feel CSU has a good blend of students from many different cultures, religions or socio-economic levels. CSU also has a ton of clubs and groups to join in order to not only get involoved in the campus but get connected with people you have similarities with. Although most students seem to be some from somehwere in or around Colorado, I feel we have a decent amount of foreign exchange students and people from other regions of the United States. Most students wear casual clothes to dress. Many freshman girls make the mistake of wearing something cutsie the first day instead of comfortable (meaning high heels instead of flip flops) and learn their lesson quickly the first day, it is a lot of walkig typically!
