Big Picture
The best part about CSU is all of the campus events. In ASAP we bring sneak peaks of movies and musical groups to campus. Last year we brought Common here for a free concert and we just showed a free sneak peak of Forgetting Sarah Marshall! My favorite place on campus is the Oval. In the spring, the trees are gorgeous and it's so nice to just sit in the grass and relax. The campus is really small to me. It makes it really nice because you see a lot of people you know, but it seems a little closed in and there aren't very many places to wander when you get bored of sitting in the Oval. The biggest recent controversy was over the ASCSU elections. Somebody was bothered that Taylor Smoot and Quinn Girrens won the election by a landslide, so they brought up an appeal saying there were unfair advantages allowed in the campaign. The most frequent complaints I hear are that the business lab in Rockwell 105 degrees no matter the weather outside and similarly, the Clark building is hot in the summer and cold in the winter!
Academic Life
My favorite class right now is MGT 320- Contemporary Management Principles. Jim McCambridge is a really good professor and the class is the perfect size for student-professor communication. My favorite class so far is Bus 200-Business Communications with Brenda Ogden. I learned a lot about how to write professionally and how to give a good presentation. Much better than Speech! Most of my classes are preparing me for a career, but most of the core classes are just for your own basic knowledge and can be pretty frustrating. I'm a business major and I had to take Intro to Prehistory for my history credit. It was really hard for me to understand and pay attention to!
Student Body
I don't think anyone would really feel out of place. Most people on campus are very accepting. The campus is not very diverse and minority groups are very small, but they all seem to be involved in the campus groups together. Most students are from Colorado within a few hours campus. There also seem to be a lot of people from New Mexico, Minnesota, and California.
The Best Things
The classes are all a ten minute walk from each other and the plaze almost always has something going on.
The Worst Things
The people are a lot different than what I'm used to and there's a lot of drinking.
