Mission
School mission: For 75 years, Kendall College has offered engaging, specialized fields of study with a strong emphasis on immersive learning that is geared to a student's academic, personal, and professional success. Whether choosing Kendall's acclaimed School of Culinary Arts, world-renowned Les Roches School of Hospitality Management, innovative School of Business , or well-established School of Education, students are encouraged to explore their talents, interests, and passions - and to discover a wealth of exciting opportunities. Kendall's School of Culinary Arts has prepared outstanding culinary professionals for almost 25 years and won the 2008 Academy of the Culinary Arts Cordon d' Or - Gold Ribbon Cooking School of the Year. In a recent survey of food editors and industry professionals, the School of Culinary Arts was ranked #1 in the Midwest and recognized as providing one of the top B.A. programs in the United States (www.cookingschoolscompared.com). Its bachelor's and associate degree programs are intensive, hands-on, and cutting-edge, utilizing 10 commercial grade kitchens, an exclusive onsite fine dining restaurant and an equally well-regarded cafeteria. The programs are designed to successfully launch students' careers in the vast foodservice industry, equipped with superb culinary skills and the equally critical business management and communication skills. Instructors have strong professional and academic credentials, formal culinary training and at least ten years of professional experience. Kendall's Les Roches School of Hospitality Management combines European customer-focused competencies with American management skills. Les Roches ranks among the top three hospitality schools in the world for preparing students for an international career in hospitality management (Taylor Nelson Sofres Travel & Tourism, 2007). The B.A. program offers a variety of concentrations: Hotel and Lodging Management, Restaurant and Foodservice Management, Asset Management, Events Management, Casino Management, Club Management, and Sports and Leisure Management. Kendall's School of Business prepares graduates to succeed in today's global workforce by focusing on the services industries. The program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Business with three concentration options - Management, Professional Cookery and Baking & Pastry. The curriculum is taught by a multinational, accomplished faculty of industry experts and uses situation-based challenges, actual case studies, management simulations and integrative projects to produce employment-ready graduates. Kendall's School of Early Childhood Education is designed specifically for working adults. Courses are offered on campus and online, allowing students the flexibility to work full time but also the benefit of interacting with classmates and faculty in small class environments. For those pursuing their bachelor's degree, Kendall provides two concentration options - Special Education and Infants and Toddlers. Kendall's recently renovated campus, located near the heart of downtown Chicago and minutes from some of the country's best restaurants, hotels, and companies, provides students prime access to internships and work experiences. Kendall College is a member of the Laureate International Universities, a global network of 42 institutions of higher learning with more than 100 campuses in 20 countries. Through this partnership, students have unprecedented access to study abroad programs, internships, and professional opportunities in Europe, Latin America and Asia.
