| School mission: | West Texas A&M University, a member of The Texas A&M University System, is the northernmost senior institution of higher learning in the state. Its location in the Texas Panhandle makes it one of the most accessible and affordable universities in the five-state region. Traditionally recognized for excellence in agriculture, business, teacher preparation, music and nursing, WTAMU offers more than 60 undergraduate and 40 graduate degree programs, including a Ph.D. in agriculture, to 7,300 students. The University is also a leader in distance education, offering individual classes and three undergraduate and two master's degree programs that can be completed totally online.
