School mission: Polytechnic University, founded in 1854, is the nation's second oldest private science and engineering institution and New York City's preeminent resource in science and technology. The University has a distinguished history of academic excellence in polymer chemistry and in electrical, aerospace and microwave engineering. Today, it is on the cutting edge of education in telecommunications, information science and technology management. Polytechnic awards bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
