Mission
School mission: Suffolk University is a comprehensive university offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences, Sawyer Business School, and Law School. The University's excellent academic programs emphasize high-quality teaching, small class size, and real-world career applications. Suffolk's faculty members are of the highest caliber. Ninety-four percent of the faculty members hold Ph.D.'s and many are practicing professionals in their fields. However, their first priority is teaching and mentoring. The undergraduate academic program offers more than seventy majors and 1,000 courses. Suffolk was selected to the first tier of 'Best Universities' Master's in the North' by U.S. News & World Report, as one of the 'Best 361 Colleges' by the Princeton Review, to Barron's Best Buys in College Education, and, most recently, as a College of Distinction by an independent committee of high school guidance counselors and college admissions professionals. Campus Life Suffolk offers more than seventy-five active student clubs and organizations, a nationally ranked debate team, three student-run publications, a strong performing arts program, and numerous special events, dances, lectures, and community service activities. A variety of intercollegiate and intramural athletics for both men and women are available. Suffolk has three residence halls, a new state-of-the-art undergraduate library, and a new theater. Modern dormitory facilities provide Internet, cable, and telephone access and beautiful views of the city. The University has campuses in Boston; Madrid, Spain; and Dakar, Senegal. For International Students Suffolk is a diverse university. There are nearly 1,000 international students enrolled at the Boston, Madrid, and Dakar campuses. The University is committed to helping international students adjust to life in the United States. The Center for International Education assists students and advises them on immigration, administrative, and cultural adjustment issues. Special social and cultural activities are offered to all international students. Courses in English as a second language, writing, and tutoring are also offered.
